2021-22 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey sees the return of an unofficial Series 3 for the season’s flagship release. Building off of Series 1 and Series 2, it expands the overall checklist and adds some new twists along the way.
Variety is a key part of the release. Like last year’s Extended Series, inserts include throwbacks to numerous years and brands while largely focusing on this season’s rookies.
2021-22 Upper Deck Extended Series Hockey Checklist Overview
The heart of Extended Series is the base set. Carrying on from where Series 2 left off, the checklist fills in some veteran gaps.
It also wraps up the season’s Young Guns crop with another 50 Rookie Cards. As usual, these are short prints falling approximately six per hobby box.

Base parallels include French, which are one per hobby box, Exclusives (/100) and High Gloss (/10). Clear Cut versions return as well, but only in hobby packs (1:166 packs, Young Guns 1:552 packs).
Some base cards also have Photo Variations, which are 1:144 packs.
Throwback Inserts
Keeping with the rookie theme are 2006-07 Upper Deck Young Guns Retro inserts. Landing four per hobby box, these aren’t limited by just Extended Series rookies. Like the product’s other inserts, it draws from the year’s top first-year standouts. These have their own Exclusives (/100) and High Gloss (/10) parallels.

2005-06 Black Diamond Retros are another throwback to the past. Available for both rookies and veterans, these are two per hobby box. Like the original Black Diamond set, players are also split into four different tiers with 1 Star being the most common and 4 Star the toughest. Ruby and Emerald Autographs are also available for select players.

1999-00 SPx Retros also appear at a rate of 1:60 hobby packs for vets and 1:40 for rookies. Radiance (/100) versions join them.
Additional Inserts
UD Canvas has become a cornerstone of Upper Deck Hockey. So it should be no surprise that they appear here. Besides more veterans (1:8 packs) and Young Guns (1:48 packs), mascots (1:96 packs) are also part of the checklist. Canvas cards are four per hobby box.

Upper Deck brings back the HoloGrFx brand. These are some of the flashiest cards in 2021-22 Upper Deck Extended Series. Gold parallels are also available.

Dazzlers return with more bright colors. Blue are 1:72 packs while Pink are 1:144.
Record Collections and NHL Specialists are new insert themes. Both are a mix of current and retired stars. For Record Collections, there are also Gold (/250) and Platinum (/50) parallels.

Although 2021-22 Trilogy Hockey has been cancelled as a standalone release, Trilogy Rookies are a part of Extended Series. Three levels of cards highlight the same mix of players, all of which are serial numbered (/999, /499 or /299). A Triple Rookie has just 99 copies. Tough autograph versions are also available, which have no more than 49 copies each.

Upper Deck Triple Dimensions are 1:60 packs with additional Ruby (/500), Amethyst (/300), Emerald (/100) and Gold (/50) versions also available.
Other inserts drawing from other Upper Deck brands include UD3 (/1000) and SPx Finite (/2999).
