5-Card 2020-21 Upper Deck Ice Pack
2021-22 Upper Deck Ice Hockey sees the brand after an unplanned one-year hiatus due to international supply chain issues. Acetate cards are on the checklist, but that’s not the case entirely. Collectors will definitely notice a shift in this regard.
And that cancelled 2020-21 Ice set? Some of the content that made its way down the production pipeline is included as bonus content.
Each hobby box has either an autograph, memorabilia card or new Frozen in Ice rip card to lead the premium content. Collectors will also find a lot of parallels, a selection of inserts and at least two acetate Ice Premieres.
2021-22 Upper Deck Ice Checklist Overview
A complete base set consists of 250 total cards. However, it’s broken down further into several sections. The main shell set is 100 veterans. They’re joined by 50 rookies, which are one per pack.
Parallels for all 150 of these cards include:
Green – 1:2, Rookies 1:3
Orange – 1:9, Rookies 1:18
Lavender – 1:18, Rookies 1:36
Ice Blue – 1:180, Rookies 1:360
Royal Blue – /99
Black – 1/1
Both Royal Blue and Black are exclusive to hobby packs.
Select base cards also have additional parallels that come with autographs and memorabilia. For veterans, there are Jersey (1:84), White Snowflake Auto (1:320), Gold Patch (/15), and Red Auto (/5). Rookies have Jersey (1:84), White Snowflake Auto (1:160), Gold Patch (/25), and Red Auto (/5).


The final 100 cards is the cornerstone Ice Premieres subset. All are exclusive to hobby packs. Another place that highlights rookies, these are all done with acetate. The first 150 base cards are not.

As usual, Ice Premieres come serial numbered. Not all are the available in the same quantities though. Consisting of five total levels of rarity, the most common have 1,299 copies. They go down to a low of 99 for ten top first-year players.
Ice Premieres parallels come in Green (/799), Red (/399), Gold (/25) and Black (1/1). There are also Autographs numbered to 199, 99 or 49. Jersey versions are 1:75 or 1:300 depending on the player. Rounding things out are Auto Patch cards that are numbered to 10.

Inserts
2021-22 Upper Deck Ice has a handful of insert sets.
New this year are Frozen in Ice (1:24) rip cards. Collectors can choose to open these up to reveal Ice Premieres minis. Frozen in Ice parallels include Gold (/25) and Black (/5).

Also making its debut are Ice Crystals (1:6), Ice Crystals Rookies (1:14), and three different levels of Shrines cards: Stars (1:72), Rookies (1:72) and Legends (1:144). Ice Crystals cards also have Orange (/99) and Yellow (/10) versions.

Sub Zero inserts return at an average of one per hobby box. Stars are 1:21 packs and have Gold parallels numbered to 8. Rookies have 999 copies each or 24 for their Gold counterparts. Sub Zero Rookies Variants are extremely tough at 1:960 packs. Some rookies also have Blue (1:144) and Green (/25) Autographs.

Looking to past designs are Ice Premieres Retro, each of which has 149 copies.
Additional Autographs
2021-22 Upper Deck Ice has a few more places to uncover autographs. Glacial Graphs (1:288). These have Black parallels, some of which also carry inscriptions.

There’s also Signature Swatches that have tough 1:576 odds when it comes to hobby packs. Black parallels are all one-of-ones.
Additional Ice Premieres Auto Patch cards reach back to the 2020-21 rookie class. Base versions have just ten copies while Black parallels have just one.
Exquisite Content
2021-22 Upper Deck Exquisite Hockey won’t be getting a standalone release. Rather, the super-premium cards are once again being spread across select products. Ice marks the second installment for the year following 2021-22 Upper Deck Black Diamond.
Hits for these include Exquisite Collection Material Signatures. Base versions have serial numbers are do the Gold (/5) and Black (1/1) parallels.
There are also Exquisite Rookie Signatures (/99) that have Gold (/25) and Black (1/1) versions as well.

Reaching into the past for designs are 03-04 Exquisite Collection Rookie Auto Patch (/25) and 09-10 Exquisite Collection Rookie Auto (/49) cards.

Some planned 2020-21 Exquisite cards also get their delay release here. Depending on the tier, Rookie Signatures have either 99 or 49 copies. 2020-21 rookies also have their own selection of 2003-04-inspired autograph patch (/25) and 2009-10 autograph cards (/49).
Not all Exquisite cards are hits, though. Collectors can also find Exquisite Collection Rookies (/299) and their Blue (/99), Gold (/25) and Black (1/1) cards.
Similar cards are also available for 2020-21 rookies. These are also numbered to 299 with additional Gold (/25) and Black (1/1) parallels.
All Exquisite cards are exclusive to hobby.
2020-21 Upper Deck Ice Bonus Packs
Every 2021-22 Upper Deck Ice hobby box has a bonus pack of five 2020-21 Ice cards. On average, these work out to be three base cards, one Ice Premieres card and one parallel.
This acts as a set within the larger product while delivering some of the cards that were originally planned for the previous hockey card season.
Ice Premieres are once again serial numbered with print runs varying from 99 to 1,299 copies.
