2020-21 SP Game Used Hockey puts memorabilia at the forefront of its checklist once again. As has been the case for several years, it’s not just the usual jerseys, though. Relics from special events also come into play, making for some distinct angles not found in other products.
2020-21 SP Game Used Hockey Checklist Overview
Another part of the SP Game Used brand that stands out is the structure of the base set. Base cards are actually difficult to pull as every card is numbered to the player’s jersey number. This actually makes putting the entire set together somewhere between extremely difficult and virtually impossible. But for player and team collectors, the numbering makes for something intriguing. Rookies as well, because in many cases it represents the player’s rarest RC.
All told, the 2020-21 SP Game Used Hockey base set has 200 cards. The first 100 are veterans. Sixty-five Authentic Rookies cover top first-year players. The remainder of the checklist consists of Authentic Rookies Team Canada (#166-177) and Legends (#178-200).
Customary for SP Game Used, select base cards have autographs on the final card. So while numbered in with the full run, they’re essentially one-of-ones. These are only in hobby packs.
Parallels
Parallels come in several levels. Most are actual easier to come by than the base set:
- Golden Burst (Veterans /265, Authentic Rookies /299, Authentic Rookies Team Canada /299, and Legends /235)
- Blue Burst (Veterans /165, Authentic Rookies /199, Authentic Rookies Team Canada /199, and Legends /135)
- Purple Burst (/5)
- Green Burst (1/1)
Shifting into the premium card realm are further parallels for select cards that come with autographs and memorabilia. Jersey versions are 1:4 packs for veterans, 1:2 for Authentic Rookies, 1:25 for Authentic Rookies Team Canada, and 1:40 for Legends. There are also Premium Memorabilia versions can be found for veterans and Authentic Rookies Patch (/65) cards.
Additional Autograph parallels also have Purple Burst (/5) and Green Burst (1/1) parallels.

Event-Specific Memorabilia Cards
Every season, the NHL has a handful of special games and events that bring a further spotlight to the league both locally and internationally. It just so happens that memorabilia from some of these events make their way into SP Game Used Hockey cards.
It starts with the All-Star Skills competition, which has several varieties. All-Star Skills Fabrics break down to include Veterans (1:5 packs), 1st Year (1:5), Captains (1:21), Dual (1:8) and Quad (1:32). Patch parallels have 35 copies each for single-swatch cards, 25 for dual and ten for quad. Finally, there are Tag parallels (Veterans /3, 1st Year /3, Captains /3, Dual /2, Quad 1/1).
All-Star Skills Fabrics Autos are 1:140 packs. Parallels for these include Patch (/10) and Tag (1/1). Dual autographs fall 1:850 packs while Patch cards are numbered to 5 and Tags are one-of-ones.
Stadium Series Fabrics (1:6) arrive in a similar vein. Like other parts of the checklist, Patch (/35) and Tag (/3) parallels are available along with Autograph (1:500), Auto Patch (/5) and Auto Tag (/3) cards. The theme carries over to Stadium Series Dual Fabrics (1:24) and Quad Fabrics (1:350).
All-Star Blends (/150) have more swatches from the star-heavy festivities. Patch (/15) and Tag (1/1) versions add a premium level.
The materials aren’t just uniforms. Net Cord (/35) are available from the All-Star Skills Competition, Heritage Classic, Stadium Series and Winter Classic. Dual versions have 15 copies.
Similarly, there are Pucks cards from the Heritage Classic (1:2,000), Stadium Series (1:1,000) and Winter Classic (1:1,000).
Banner Year cards don’t have game-used memorabilia. Instead they use pieces of banners hung at specific events. Given the banners’ designs and graphics, these often make for distinct cards. Banner Year cards are available with All-Star (1:6), Heritage Classic (1:18), Stadium Series (1:18) and Winter Classic (1:18) versions. Autograph parallels are numbered to 10.
Additional Autographs and Memorabilia Cards
2020-21 SP Game Used Hockey has a handful more autographs and memorabilia inserts.
Game Gear (/6) cards all feature four different types of memorabilia. While some take a broad approach, there are also some with more specific All-Star and Stadium Series themes.
For fans of jumbo swatch cards, Supreme (/15) returns with a variety of patches and other premium memorabilia pieces.
Frameworks (1:18) return for another year with a design done to look like a framed jersey. Patch parallels have 25 copies each.
Tonight’s Lineup are tough pulls. These come with pieces of game-used lineup cards with the player’s name. Some of these come with autographs as well. No matter the type, these are all one-of-ones.
Other memorabilia cards include Distinctions Materials (1:6), Rookie Sweaters (/249), Rookie Blends (/150) and Piece of History (/99). All have scarce Patch and Tag parallels.
Inked Sweaters (/25, Legends (/15) combine autographs and memorabilia.
Draft Day Marks use manufactured letters as the anchor for an autograph. The idea here is that collectors can spell out the player’s name. Rookies have 35 copies per letter while Veterans have ten.
