2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Hockey has a familiar mix of a big checklist and a old-school feel. It’s also a product that bypasses a lot of the modern hits like autographs and memorabilia cards, opting instead for other inserts aimed at the set-building crowd.
2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Hockey
Intended to be one of the most comprehensive products of the year as far as size goes, the base set totals 600 cards. Among them are a few subsets. Marquee Rookies highlight players debuting late in the 2017-18 season like Adam Gaudette and Ryan Donato. Other subset themes include League Leaders and Season Highlights.
Parallels come in a handful of styles. Basic color takes include Silver (1:3 packs) and Gold Glossy (1:24). Retro parallels return at a rate of one per pack. These also have Black Border versions numbered to 100. Randomly inserted hot boxes have Retro Black Border cards replacing all of the box’s regular base cards.
The O-Pee-Chee wrapper redemption returns for Canadian collectors. These feature exclusive Red Border cards at a rate of five per redemption pack.
Inserts
2018-19 O-Pee-Chee Hockey has some large insert sets. While not all are hard to pull, the size of their respected checklists should offer up something of a challenge to put together.
These start with 77 Mini Cards. Basic copies are 1:3 packs but short prints and variations can get much tougher. How tough? Back Variations have just 27 copies each.
O-Pee-Chee Playing Cards (1:5) bring in a different type of card. This is the third consecutive year for the inserts after appearing in 2016-17 and 2017-18 O-Pee-Chee Hockey.
Manufactured Patch Cards return for another year. These have become an O-Pee-Chee staple. This time, the checklist has 100 cards covering a few areas: Trophy Winners, Hall of Fame Logo and Logo Updates.
