2016-17 Trilogy

Příspěvek od valento3 »

Release date: January 4, 2017

Configuration:
Packs per box: 8
Cards per pack: 4
Boxes per case: 10 per inner shipper
Set size: 50 cards

With an all-new configuration, 2016-17 Upper Deck Trilogy Hockey is looking to step a bit outside of its normal method of delivering collectors some of the first rookie autograph cards of the season and an impressive array of signed cards and memorabilia hits.

This season, the product moves into a new packaging format with eight packs in each box with the chance to pull two autographs on average. Expected to be an early January release, it promises a greater focus on rookie content and the return of the increasingly popular Signature Pucks cards Trilogy has become known for.

Base Set

A reduction to just a 50-card base set in 2016-17 Upper Deck Trilogy Hockey is a bit of an unexpected surprise, so collectors should expect a checklist that is made up of the best available players from the past and present.

There are several parallel versions for each card, starting with Blue Rainbow Foil (/999) that become progressively scarcer with Green Rainbow Foil Jersey Relics that are numbered to a player’s career stat and Black Rainbow Premium Materials Relics, which are limited to a single-season total.

When it comes to the freshmen, the Top Prospects in this release will include just 33 players. Produced in three levels of scarcity based on what the card features, the Common Rookies are numbered to 999 while the Uncommon Rookies (/375) have autographs and Rare Inscribed Autograph Rookies (/49) are tough but include a little extra personality with the ink. There are Blue and Black parallels for each card as well (Blue: Common /499, Uncommon /49, Rare /jersey number and Black: Common /99, Uncommon /varied, Rare /3). Look for yet another option for the league’s hot new stars with Green Rookie Jerseys (/699) that have even more desirable versions with patches (/35) and tag pieces (/5).

Autographs

Over the past three seasons, Signature Pucks have proven to be an autograph set that has caught on with those opening packs of Trilogy. With a regular version that is seeded once in every two boxes on average, these cards have several hand-numbered parallels that include Team Logos (/17) and NHL Logos (/3). Several of the game’s greatest legends put the ink down for Hall of Fame Signature Pucks (1:432 with two hand-numbered parallels /10 and /3) while Dual Signature Pucks for Hall of Fame Signature Pucks (1:432 with two hand-numbered parallels /5 and one-of-one) return for another year.

One of the staples of Trilogy over the past decade has been the Ice Scripts cards, which are on a clear Plexi-Glass stock. Another big hit will come in the form of Triple Rookie Autos. The concept, of course, is self-explained, but there will be no more than 25 copies of each card produced with the Blue parallels being out of five while the Blacks are one-of-ones.

Memorabilia

Tryptichs return in 2016-17 Upper Deck Trilogy Hockey and the concept-driven memorabilia collection has a few levels for box breakers to consider. The Tryptich Relics Jersey and Premium Memorabilia cards are going to be produced in varying quantities, but Tryptich Signatures will bring the concept together for some players as well. A new addition to Trilogy are the Triple Relics cards that have three pieces of memorabilia that are put together based on specific themes.
