2013 Panini Boxing Day follows in the footsteps of the company's popular Black Friday and Father's Day sets. Designed as a special promo set to drive traffic to local hobby shops, the product features a broad mix of cards. 2013 Panini Boxing Day is exclusive to Canadian hobby shops. More than 150 stores are slated to participate.
Much of the release takes on Panini's Absolute brand. This includes the base set, which features 20 veterans and 15 rookies. The base set is all hockey. Absolute Goalies, NHL Icons and Retired are three insert sets that also boast the Absolute logo.
Like other hobby shop promo sets, 2013 Panini Boxing Day also has its share of autographs and memorabilia cards. Many of the swatches come from gear used at special events like the draft.
Cracked Ice and Lava Flow parallels flow throughout much of the product as well.
2013 Panini Boxing Day packs come with a pair of cards. It's up to individual hobby shops to decide how to distribute them, although most tend to offer them as an incentive for buying boxes.
